![]() ![]() So, even in my rigorous four-week schedule, I still found time to relax, and I think it's essential to have some deal-o-day or relaxation day. But I still found time to work out I still found time to prepare meals, and I even have two whole days where I didn't do anything except hang out with my family and girlfriend. I would wake, eat lunch and dinner while studying while reviewing flashcards while reading the necessary chapters that I had for that day. ![]() I do have to admit that my life for those four weeks essentially revolves around the MCAT. By the time I took the actual MCAT, I had got a 514, which I think is a decent score. But each time I took the practice test, my score would increase, sometimes by two, even five points. You want a higher score than that to be competitive in your medical school applications. I think my first practice test, and I scored like a 500, which was low. Then I would spend the rest of the day after taking that practice test, going over those specific sections and those specific topics and mastering them and memorizing them to make the same mistakes again in future practice tests.īy doing this, I saw my score go up by two or three points after each practice test. Once a week, I would take one practice test, and the most important thing I did after the practice test was evaluating which sections I did the worst at. So, I planned out each day what sections I would read. Once I wrote down all my weaknesses from the first sample test, and what topic and sections I felt I should go over the most, I still read over all of the sections of each book, including the chemistry book, and I sort of devoted two to three hours for each chapter, and I made outline notes. So, I would expect to score high on the chemistry portion of the MCAT. I took the sample MCAT practice test, I believe the 2017 version, and based on that practice test, I wrote down my biggest weaknesses.įor example, I think I did badly in the CARS section – the critical analysis and reading section – so I knew I had to focus a little more on that section compared to the chemistry section on which I almost scored a perfect score because, at that point in my career, I was almost done with my chemistry major. The first thing I did before I started anything was to take a practice test.
